Hurricane Ian Response
Hurricane Ian made landfall on the Fort Myers Beach coastline on September 28, 2022, as one of the most powerful storms ever recorded in the US, with winds of 155 mph, bringing catastrophic flooding and winds of historic proportions. Many people had to climb to their roofs to keep from drowning as water rushed into their homes. Many people are still not accounted for. Once a robust community now looks like wastelands. Millions are without electricity as search and rescue teams continue to save thousands of people still trapped inside their homes. Hope Builders is responding, and we need your support.
Our immediate response and recvery plans are as follows
* We will be collecting emergency supplies in our headquarter state of Massachusetts and delivering them directly to the victims.
*Set up operations in Fort Myers.
*Prepare and serve food to the community in need.
*Teams of volunteerse will help the elderly and most in need muck and gut their homes. The faster the homes are cleaned out; the more likely their homes can be saved.
*After completing our assessment, we will begin recruiting volunteers to expand our capacity and reach more survivors.
